Emergency Aid Response in Education & Care Course (includes CPR training)

HLTAID012 – Provide an emergency aid response in an education and care setting

This course is designed for those who require a first aid qualification in order to care for children on either a professional, volunteer or personal basis. It teaches them how to deal with all emergency situations including asthmatic and anaphylactic emergencies.

This course is suited for parents, early childhood workers or childcare workers undertaking a certificate or diploma qualification in the child care industry.

Mode of Delivery: Face to face training in a classroom environment with on-course of online pre-course knowledge assessment.

LocationPilbara First Aid’s premises

All courses are delivered face to face, with some online learning, they can be delivered on site at your work place or at Pilbara First Aid’s premises.

All courses are delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines.

Course Duration:

  • Online Training with Face to Face Assessment – self paced online learning (3.5hrs) with a scheduled 4 hrs face to face practical assessment.
  • Face to Face – 8 hours (minimum) full face to face course

Renewal Requirements: It is recommended that renewal for this course is undertaken every 3 years, with the additional requirement of updating the CPR component every 12 months.

Cost: $230

Certificate valid for: Three (3) years

Assessment Activities: conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

  • Performance tasks –
            Perform CPR on an infant
            Anaphylaxis (allergic reaction)
            Choking with airway obstruction
            Head injury/ Unconscious breathing casualty
            Bleeding and shock
            Snake or funnel web spider bite
            Sprains and fractures
            Seizures and epilepsy, including febrile convulsions
            Poisoning and toxic substances
  • Practical scenarios –
            Perform CPR on a child
            Perform CPR on an adult
            Breathing difficulties – Asthma
  • Documentation – The student must complete the following to the appropriate standard:
            Incident report forms
  • Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions.
            The student must complete all assessment questions.

Course Refund and Transfer Policy

Refund Policy and Cancellation: details can be found on page 16 of the Allens Training Student Handbook

A full refund will be provided if:

  • Pilbara First Aid cancels a class and cannot nominate a suitable attendance date; or
  • A notice is given by the participant at least five (5) working days prior to the commencement of the course

Note: Refunds may require a written request

A transfer may be permitted if:

  • The first aid course is completed within three (3) months of original course date (the course transfer will incur a $20.00 administration fee)

No refund or transfer will be given:

  • If the class has already commenced
  • If no notice is provided
  • If pre course online work is not completed with 60 days of completions of course – the student competency status will be updated to ‘abandoned’. and they will need to rebook, repay and attend the course again.

Note: A cancellation fee will apply if: A cancellation, or request to transfer the training to another date, is received less than 5 business days before the course commencement, after a course has commenced or no participants attend the course as scheduled. The cancellation fee is the cost of the course.
